24 hour pre-sale window nearing fast

Computer maker Dell is readying the launch of its first Android-based tablet PC on the United States market, the Dell Streak. Boasting a 5-inch touchscreen display, the device expected to become available for purchase in the US during the following ten days. According to Dell, it is kicking off a special 24 hour pre-sale window, and it is inviting interested customers to head over to its website and register to receive info on when that would happen.

The Android slate is already available for purchase in Europe, and Dell seems determined to make it available on as many markets as possible. The specifications list of the device includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with dual-LED flash, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, A-GPS, e-compass, and more. The device measures 6" x 3.1" x 0.4".

Among the other features of the new device, we can count options to keep users connected at all times with their friends and family via social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, or via Gmail and other email accounts. The Streak packs integrated real-time Facebook and Flickr upload abilities, as well as navigation with turn-by-turn directions, text-to-voice functions. Proximity and ambient light sensors are also included into the mix.
