Dell Streak 7, the second Android-based tablet PC that computer maker Dell announced officially for the US market, following the release of the 5-inch Dell Streak at AT&T, is set to make an appearance on the airwaves of T-Mobile as soon as Wednesday, February 2nd, the wireless carrier announced officially.
Running under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, the Dell Streak 7 comes with a larger screen than the original Streak, namely a 7-inch one, while packing a faster processor inside.
The device was already rumored to be on its way to land at T-Mobile on February 2nd, but nothing was confirmed officially until now.
In addition to announcing the launch day for the tablet PC, T-Mobile also confirmed officially that its customers interested in the device would have to commit to a two-year contract on a qualifying plan, and that a $50 mail-in rebate will be included in the equation.
As a recent article on Engadget notes, the Streak 7 would sport a price tag of $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier. If purchased free of contract, the device would cost $450.
Here's what the carrier has to say on this device on its website: “The Dell Streak 7—fun, fast, and amazingly priced. Entertain the whole family with our first 4G tablet, powered by Android:
- 7” multi-touch screen - Watch your favorite shows on-the-go with T-Mobile TV - Thousands of family friendly apps like BrainPOP, Zinio, Kindle for Android and Blockbuster - Talk Live with T-Mobile Video chat powered by Qik with front and rear-facing cameras - Full Flash support for a rich Web experience"
Previous rumors on the matter suggested that T-Mobile would have the tablet at $329.99 on contract, but the carrier denied such rumors, and it seems that they were indeed far from reality.
The Dell Streak 7 lands at T-Mobile with support for the carrier's HSPA+ network, and is being touted as the carrier's first 4G tablet. The company already went official with another such device, the T-Mobile G-Slate.
