The company reportedly scrapped plans for any Mango handset

Computer maker Dell is reportedly scrapping plans to bring to the market new devices that would run under Microsoft's Windows Phone Mango operating system.

The company was rumored not too long ago to plan the release of at least one new mobile phone that would run under Microsoft's new mobile operating system, yet it seems that this will never happen.

The said device, which leaked earlier this year along with other devices from Dell, was set to arrive on shelves as with the codename of Dell Wrigley, and was said to be an upgraded flavor of the Dell Venue Pro.

However, recent reports suggest that Dell has actually canceled all plans to bring this device to shelves, and any subsequent iterations of it.

The said phone leaked back in February, when Windows Phone 7.5 Mango was only a rumor, and signs that something has changed started to emerge about three months later when Microsoft went official with the new platform release.

In May, Dell was not on the list of manufacturers who were supposed to support the release of Mango, but we all supposed that the company might have had plans for launching new phones only next year.

It turns out that Dell will not be launching a new Windows Phone, and that no handset running under Mango will arrive from the company, WPCentral has learned.

Dell Venue Pro will continue to enjoy support from the company, but this is about all that they will do in the Windows Phone area, it seems.

However, it seems that only Mango is out of Dell's books, and that the next flavor of the mobile OS, which was previously said to have been called Apollo or Windows Phone 8, might actually be loaded on commercially available Dell smartphones as well.

Rumor has it that the company has had some problems with the mobile phone division lately, and that the issue is not related only to Windows Phone, but to Android as well.
