With the recent technological advancements in performance, efficiency and reliability, the enterprise sector is expected to start transitioning to newer hardware solutions in order to improve their productivity and reduce costs. To both take advantage of this movement, as well as assist these business customers with a viable choice for upgrading their infrastructure, Dell has refreshed its mainstream Latitude E laptop family by launching the 14.1-inch E6410 and E6410 ATG, as well as the 15.6-inch E6510.

All three are powered by Intel's Calpella platform and use either a Core i5 or Core i7 CPU. They also come with up to 500GB of storage (256 if an SSD is used), a memory capacity of up to 8GB, a DVD Writer or Blu-ray drive and a choice between the NVIDIA NVS 3100 video card (512MB) and integrated graphics. Also, all units boast a 720p LED-backlit screen, with the E6510 also featuring an optional 1,080p display. Furthermore, they each have built-in HD webcams, Gigabit Ethernet, GPS, optional mobile broadband, Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi.

"Organizations have a great incentive to refresh today," Bob O'Donnell, Program VP, Client Computing, IDC, said. "With new technologies such as Intel's processors and Microsoft Windows 7, CIOs can drive greater workforce efficiency and IT automation. In addition, a modern system running a modern operating system offers greater efficiencies when it comes to desktop virtualization, data protection, asset monitoring and remote management."

As companies decide that holding on to aging infrastructures is no longer worthwhile, because of impact and costs, the commercial laptop market is expected to grow by 27% over the next three years, according to IDC. These three new models strike a balance between performance, feature set and power consumption and are intended to ultimately improve productivity and work efficiency. The E6410 ATG even boasts a rugged design that confers temperature, humidity, vibration and shock resistance.

Priced at $1,014, $1,064 and $2,114, respectively, the Latitude E6410, E6510 and E6410 ATG have already been listed on the PC maker's official website.
