Dell has just made an official announcement in which it reveals that its business is undergoing a fairly major restructuring. Dell's latest words shouldn't come as such a great surprise to those who've been keeping up to speed with technology news.
After all, the year 2011 was hard on many companies, some of which (like
AMD) had to go through some serious transformations.
Dell did not put much effort, until now, into saying whether or not it would make any major modifications to its own business profile.
It definitely started down that path, though, as a new press release makes it more than clear.
It turns out that the corporation's customer business segments are coming together, as Paul Bell, president Public & Large Enterprise, has decided to leave.
“Paul has contributed greatly to Dell’s success and has long played a key role as a member of the senior management team,” said Mr. Dell. “I appreciate his many contributions to Dell and our customers. He will be truly missed.”
Dell will merge its Public, Large Enterprise, Small Medium Business and Consumer divisions under the leadership of a single man.
The person in question is Steve Fedice, now president and chief commercial officer.
“These changes will enhance our sales and marketing efforts, bringing us even closer to our customers and increasing the speed, agility and responsiveness of every aspect of our business,” said Michael Dell, chairman and chief executive officer.
“Steve has been a trusted colleague for more than 12 years and shares my passion to serve our customers. Under his leadership of Dell’s sales and marketing organization, I am excited about the many opportunities ahead of us.”
The new sales organization is supposed to be more customer-focused and “collaborative.”
Dell hopes that, once all proceedings are complete, it will be able to produce more practical solutions and innovate at a higher rate that it has, so far, been able to.
