Designed for small businesses

Dell has just released a new mini notebook based on its Inspiron Mini 9 netbook that the company introduced in early September. The new portable computer system has been designed to become part of the company's Vostro lineup, and is aimed at small businesses. Dubbed Vostro A90, the new netbook system from Dell was just launched today in Japan.

Although it is meant for the small businesses market segment, the Vostro A90-branded netbook system is basically another version of the company's first netbook model, the Inspiron Mini 9. It is built on the Intel Atom-supporting platform, and comes in the same 9-inch form factor. Users will basically get the same performance level achieved by the 1.6GHz Atom processor and the netbook's integrated graphics. Other technical specifications include 1GB of DDR2 memory and just 8GB of storage space on an SSD solution.

The “business” feeling of the Vostro A90 comes from its all-black color option, but aside from that, users will notice that, as mentioned above, this is nothing but a re-branded version of the Inspiron Mini 9. Therefore, the Vostro A90 comes with the same connectivity options as Dell's fist netbook model, and it will ship with a Windows XP Home Edition operating system. There is, however, one major difference between the Vostro A90 and Dell's Inspiron Mini 9 notebook.

As it turns out, the Vostro-branded Inspiron Mini 9 will come out with an approximate price tag of $972, according to Register Hardware. If this is the case, the Vostro A90 could easily compete for the world's most expensive netbook title.

MSI, a company that has also released its own Atom-powered netbook system, is also expected to unveil a new version of the Wind netbook that will be meant for business users. However, unlike the Vostro A90 from Dell, the upcoming Wind U120 is believed to come out with a different exterior design, as compared with the first Wind model.
