Dell Presents a Nice 20-in LCD

Good features and an affordable price tag

It looks like Dell plans to expand its range of LCD monitors aimed at the home and office computer users with a new widescreen display that comes with a viewable area of 20 inches and this product is called SP2008WFP and it will be priced at an

affordable $289.

This new product is the first ever flat panel LCD monitor from Dell to integrate a microphone and a Web camera so it looks that the manufacturing company is finally getting around the old design lines when it comes to computer monitor features. The central positioned Web camera comes with a native resolution of 2 megapixels and it is able to provide a high quality video stream or equally high quality still images. As it is integrated into the monitor design and cannot be removed, the web camera could also be used to perform a number of surveillance tasks like remote monitoring, motion detection and time-lapse video capturing.

While not directly aimed at the high performance display market, the new Dell SP2008WFP offers a very good grey to grey response time of only 2ms and it is capable of using a native resolution of 1680x1050 with a 60Hz refresh ratio, while also providing DVI connectivity and TrueLife technology for enhanced contrast. The implemented TrueLife technology also increases the overall image quality by providing better color reproduction when compared with traditional anti glare coated displays. The dynamic contrast ratio of 2000:1 is able to display rich and deeper tones of black which makes this new Dell LCD monitor well suited for gaming and outstanding multimedia presentations.

The multimedia features of this computer monitor are enhanced by the presence of a bundled software suite, the Dell Webcam suite that integrates a number of the most widely used audio-visual communication functions into a single and easy to use package. This new Dell LCD display system also comes with DVI connectors and above all it is also HDCP enabled so users will be able to watch protected high-definition content, while enjoying the outstanding screen performance delivered by the large 20-inch viewing area with a 16:10 aspect ratio.
