Dell may have already made the official introduction of a certain pair of mobile workstations, but it looks like one of them has begun shipping earlier than the press release stated it would.

The users keeping an eye on the happenings on the professional market will have probably learned of the two workstations that Dell prepared.

Dubbed Precision M4600 and M6600, they were said to be on track for availability on May 10, 2011.

Now, however, the company's official website reveals that one of them, the M6600 that is, has already begun shipping, at least in the UK.

For those that would like to get a reminder on the hardware, the CPU (central processing unit) at the heart of the machine is either a Core i5 or a Core i7.

Regardless of the CPU, the system can be equipped with up to 12 GB of 1333 MHz dual-channel DDR3, or up to 16 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM (random access memory).

What's more, in addition to the integrated graphics of the CPU, the workstation is designed with the 2 GB AMD FirePro M8900 Mobility Pro professional graphics card,, or an NVIDIA Quadro 3000M/4000M, also with 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM.

Meanwhile, 750 GB of storage space are provided by a HDD, unless the buyer wants speed and chooses a 256 GB SSD (solid state drives) instead.

Furthermore, an optical disk drive is, naturally, present, as is Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and various security features.

All these, along with the 17.3-inch LED-backlit LCD display of up to Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) resolution (with or without multitouch) are kept running by a 9-cell battery.

Other specifications include a webcam, anti-microbial keyboard with number pad, two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, a 10-in-1 card reader, eSATA and a Displayport, among other things.
