Most consumers, professional or industrial end-users can usually make do with a desktop in case they want a system with massive amounts of memory, but there are still certain scenarios where mobility is required. For those situations, Dell has been, for a while, offering the Precision series of laptops, of which the M6500 can be seen as the flagship. This machine, until recently, came with up to 16GB of DDR3. The company has now entered the spotlight in order to proudly announce that the memory limit has been risen.

The Precision M6500 comes with the very intriguing memory capacity of up to 32GB DDR3, whose frequency s of 1600 MHz. This RAM backs up an Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition high-end CPU and is paired with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M graphics solution. According to the device's maker, the bigger amount of RAM will assist the so-called 'oil and gas' users, as well as those that utilize Computer Aided Engineering applications, such as Ansys Workbench and Ansys Fluent.

“Our oil and gas customers, who currently use 16GB of memory on the Dell Precision M6500, will be pleased to learn we are now the first to offer 32GB of system memory. They can now review larger slices of the earth to find oil, enabling faster and more accurate drilling to find oil and gas reserves. They will also be able to run bigger models or run several realizations of same mid-size model at the same time,” a company blog post states.

In addition to the revised M6500, Dell was also quite eager to point out the fact that the M4500, a so-called younger sibling to the other, will now be configurable with 16GB of RAM of its own. Unfortunately, the exact product prices are not exactly unveiled, but the entire series can be seen in detail on the official product page.
