Dell plans two Streak slates, to launch by year's end and early 2011, respectively

Not all that long ago, it was rumored that Dell was planning on eventually joining the upcoming tablet war, which can only mean that, by the time this year is over, there should be at least one slate bearing the company's logo on display in shops. Whatever form they take, it is quite likely that the newcomers will play on the areas where the iPad is lacking, namely Flash support and I/O. Until recently, however, there was no way of knowing just how the slates would turn out and when they arrive, information which a certain new report has merrily published.

In a not-so-common case of complete surprise mixed with excitement, the folks over at Engadget revealed that they somehow got their virtual fingers on a number of pictures showing the suitably upcoming additions to the Streak lineup displaying some very colorful images. The photos aren't exactly fountains of knowledge, but, at the very least, it is revealed that the members of the duo will have sizes of 7 inches and 10 inches, respectively.

As far as the hardware is concerned, nothing was mentioned. Naturally, the two slates will need some form of touch or multitouch input, a decent screen resolution, HD multimedia playback capabilities and, most likely, support for Adobe Flash. It is also likely that Dell will do its best to enable support for multitasking. Unfortunately, the photos don't seem to reveal any sort of front-facing webcam, though this does not necessarily mean that the final products will not have them.

There is no word on the price tags consumers should expect to see on these two slates, but there does seem to be some indication of when they come out, even despite Dell's decision not to comment. The Dell Streak 7-inch will likely launch before the ongoing year is out, either through AT&T or without such support, whereas the 10-inch should debut, like so many other upcoming products, in early 2011.
