Computer maker Dell is set to deliver to the market in the near future a new device, the Dell Mini 5 tablet, which should probably compete against the newly launched Apple iPad, if it weren't for the price tag of $1098 Dell's device is said to hit the market with. However, the new Mini 5 slate type device comes with Google's Android operating system on board, and should bring forth both smartphone and tablet functionalities, expanding its capabilities a little more.

The new device from Dell packs inside a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, does not have a physical QWERTY keyboard, but sports a five-inch touchscreen display, larger than what a currently available smartphone can offer. Moreover, it is also stashed with built-in 3G and phone features, as well as with a great deal of Dell customizations, and should prove a great addition to those interested in a more portable form factor than other similar devices can offer.

Among the other features of the newly unveiled Dell Mini 5 tablet, we can count a five-megapixel photo snapper on the back, should fit greatly in one's hand when launched on the market, and its Android operating system will offer support for a great deal of services and features, including Adobe's Flash 10.1 player.

So as to make a comparison with the newly launched Apple iPad, we should mention that this tablet comes with a 9.7-inch display, is priced somewhere in the $600-$850 range depending on storage space and other features, and won't support Flash, something that most of you might already know. On the other hand, Dell's Mini 5 will sport a much more leveraged price tag, something that won't appeal that much to users in the end, and there are still no details on a carrier that might bring it to the market.

A few more details on the Dell Mini 5 tablet can be found in the video below, and we should mention as well that the tablet is expected to arrive on the market within the following few months, as Dell stated.
