Dell Malaysia has just unveiled a new, sleek-looking portable computer system that has been designed to become part of the company's Studio family. Simply dubbed Studio 14, the new device comes as the first portable system from Dell's Studio brand that is designed as a sub 15-inch laptop. With a screen size of 14-inch and a resolution of 1280 by 800, the new Studio 14 should provide its users with a decently priced laptop that boasts some of the latest portable hardware components on the market.
According to recent reports, the Studio 14 first surfaced on Dell's Malaysia website, but the company is expected to introduce the laptop for all of its global customers. It comes equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, clocked at 2.1GHz, 2GB of RAM memory and a high-capacity 250GB hard disk drive. Intel managed to also power the system's graphics, as the laptop has been equipped with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100.
As you will see in the available pictures, the laptop will also come with a slot load optical drive, which can only further expand the system's “cool” factor. Additional details regarding the technical specifications are yet to emerge but, according to slashgear, users will be granted the choice of upgrading to a Windows Vista Ultimate operating system. A fingerprint scanner, Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD soundcard and a choice of six alternative colors are all part of the upgrade options. Also, an ATI Radeon HD 3450 GPU, with 256MB of memory, will be offered as an alternative to the potential buyers of the Studio 14 laptop.
Price wise, you are looking at a system that starts at just $1040. Given the specifications, the laptop could potentially become one of the company's most successful products in early 2009, as it combines a cool-looking design with some decent technical specifications.
