As we have come to expect, Dell has introduced new systems based on Intel's third-generation Core central processing units, two to be exact.

The two desktop PCs that Dell formally launched in its latest press release are called XPS 8500 and Vostro 470.

The former is described as suited to the needs of music and graphics designers, as well as multimedia creators and editors. Of course, playing games should be a breeze too.

With a choice between the third-generation Intel Quad Core i5 3450 and Intel Quad Core i7 3770, the XPS 8500 gets an NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 1 GB discrete GPU or an AMD card instead (1 GB Radeon HD 7570, 2 GB 7770 or 2 GB HD 7870).

The standard DDR3 memory amount is 4 GB, but can be pushed to 16 GB if needed, while storage is provided by a 1-3 TB 3.5-inch 7,200 RPM HDD, with or without an mSATA SSD of up to 256 GB.

A DVD drive is present as well (optional Blu-ray combo), along with Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, four USB 3.0 ports, six USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, audio jacks and 19.-in-1 media card reader.

The second system, Vostro 470, is a mini-tower for businessmen that don't have too much money to spend on a computer but would like something good anyway.

The press release says there is a choice between Core i5 and Core i7, but the product page only mentions Intel Core i5 3450, for now anyway.

Better graphics than the integrated HD 4000 come from NVIDIA's GeForce GT 620 or the 1 GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7570.

Moving on, up to 8 GB of memory are present, plus 500GB-2TB storage, optional SSD configurations, a DVD writer and connectivity options similar to the above.

The Dell XPS 8500 has a starting price of $749 (570 Euro, or so exchange rates say), while the Vostro 470 begins at $549 (418 Euro). Check out the introductory videos below, or the product pages we linked to above, for more.
