With CeBIT just done and the news that it was still the world's second greatest PC vendor, Dell has been quite active over the past few weeks, having released not just performance-packed laptops and desktops, but also planning on making a strong push on the tablet front. Now, the firm has decided to expand its set of new offerings, by revealing the successor to its G2410 monitor, a fresh product aptly named G2410H.

For all the job cuts and severe impact on companies' ability to do business, the economic recession did, ironically, have one good consequence. In the wake of less favorable financial conditions, hardware makers stopped solely relying on performance and began paying more attention to the environment footprint left by each of their new devices. This enabled the creation of items that had much higher energy efficiency without any real impact on quality and performance. The Dell G2410H is one such product.

The monitor measures 24 inches and comes with a TN panel with WLED backlighting. The glass used is built with no arsenic and the backlights are mercury-free. These features lower the environment footprint significantly and are complemented by the low power consumption of under 20W in normal operation.

This energy efficiency if possible thanks to the use of an Ambient light Sensor and several other power-saving features, such as Dynamic Dimming and PowerNap. In sleep mode, the display uses up only 0.15W. As for actual graphical specifications, the LCD has a maximum resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, a 5ms response time, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 (1,000,000:1 DCR) and connects via D-Sub and an HDCP-capable DVI-D.

The monitor is bundled with an optional Dell Flat Panel attached multimedia Sound Bar, backed by a three-year warranty and already listed with a starting price of $339 on Dell's Online Store.
