Dell Latitude ST Windows-Powered Tablet is Now Official

We got our first glimpse at Dell's upcoming Latitude ST tablet earlier this week in a promotional video released by the Texan company, but now Dell has revealed additional info about the hardware of the slate as well as some of its features.

Just like the rest of the products released in the latitude line, the ST is also targeting business users, so Dell has opted for running a full version of Windows 7 with a series of enterprise-class customizations.

These include support for VMware and Citrix virtualization as well as a pre-installed remote management software, which will most certainly make IT manager happy about their decision to go with Dell's most recent creation.

Outside of these features, the Dell Latitude ST looks both inside and out as your ordinary Windows tablet as its powered by a 1.5GHz Atom Z670 processor seconded by 2GB of system memory, according to SlashGear.

The Intel CPU was specially designed for tablet use, so it will definitely help a lot with improving the battery life of the Latitude ST, which is also aided by the presence of an SSD with 128GB of storage capacity.

As expected, Wi-Fi comes as standard, but Dell has also said that they plan to release a version of the 10.1-incher that will come equipped with 3G connectivity.

The rest of the features list includes front and rear cameras, USB, SD and HDMI ports, compatibility with a series of unique accessories such as a dock and a detachable keyboard, while battery life is estimated at a cool eight hours.

The Latitude ST should go on sale on November 1st, but Dell hasn't mentioned a price for its tablet.

Sadly, for those of you hoping to upgrade the tablet to Windows 8 when it arrives, Dell has stated that the OS won't be supported.
