On Monday, Dell announced its new PowerEdge T100 server system designed to meet the increasing demand in the small-and-medium businesses market sector. Coming to extend the company's PowerEdge portfolio, the new T100 system has a starting price of only $449, and is currently available directly from the company's website and its more than 40,000 channel partners.

“Customers want systems that are easy-to-use, affordable and help protect their most precious asset – information,” said Sally Stevens, director, Dell PowerEdge Server Product Group. “With products like the PowerEdge T100, we are investing heavily in our server and storage solutions specifically geared toward the issues our customers tell us are most important.”

As mentioned above, the new T100 server system addresses the computing requirements of SMBs, and comes to provide a powerful server system backed by Dell's experience in creating such reliable solutions.

As far as tech specs go, the new Dell PowerEdge T100 can be powered by a number of Intel's latest processors, including the high-end Xeon lineup of CPUs, specifically designed for server systems. Built on Intel's 3200 chipset, the new T100 server system from Dell can be equipped with a maximum of 8GB of DDR2 memory and 2TB of storage space on SATA hard drives. This goes to prove the system's scalability features, which are highly important for any SMB customer.

In addition, the new T100 provides a number of security and data protection features, including internal, locked-down USB 2.0 ports, chassis intrusion switch, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip and Raid architecture to prevent data loss by transparently performing data backups. Coming to meet its customers' needs, Dell also offers an online product recovery and recycling service, which allows companies with fewer than 10 pieces of computer equipment to manage, return and track unwanted equipment.

With a starting price tag ($449) that will certainly attract a considerable number of potential customers, Dell's latest offer is currently available for customization.
