Dell has come up with two new Inspiron 1525 notebook models in its Special Art Edition series. Both notebooks are more like collector's items rather than common mobile computers and follow the same design line as the much-hyped HP Pavilion dv2660se or BenQ JoyBook.

The new Inspiron 1525 notebooks come in two designs, called "Bunch O Surfers" and "Sea Sky", inspired by Mike Ming's attempt to customize urban technology in a way that fits a global market, but answers the needs of the individual. The notebooks are already on sale through Dell's online retail store, and come with a price tag of $699.

"Our customers have asked that we continue to look at other areas of life, apart from technology, to help bring a sense of uniqueness to their computers", said Ed Boyd, vice president of Consumer Experience Design at Dell. "Mike Ming and the other artists in the series represent the shift in the level of customer design input, a trend we're excited to see continue", he concluded.

The two Inspiron 1525 Special Art Edition models are built using Dell's new manufacturing technology that boosts colors and brush strokes on the notebook's lid. The result is a fluid tattoo with a graffiti touch that will surely draw everybody's attention on the notebook's lid. In spite of the high density of colors the Dell logo on the notebook's lid is the most visible element.

The top lid designs belong to the Brooklyn artist Mike Ming, also known as Michael Miyahira. According to Dell, they blend popular culture with life experiences in order to increase inspiration and style, as well as to transform a common consumer electronics device into a fashionable accessory.

"I wanted to create a sense of energy, playfulness, sophistication and psychedelic momentum when I started this", said Ming. "This new technique from Dell brings my inspiration-water and the energy it produces-to life and gives computer aficionados their own display of style", he continued.
