Thinks HP's launch of an ARMv8-based server was rushed

ARM has more or less succeeded in breaking the boundaries of the mobile consumer electronics market, enough for Dell to seriously consider using its chips in servers.

ARM processors use very little energy compared to the x86 CPUs from Intel and AMD.

Since there is arguably more emphasis than ever on energy efficiency in technology, data centers and servers have to pay special attention to this.

Engadget now says that Dell will start making ARM-powered servers at some point in the future.

All it is waiting for is a sufficiently developed software platform. HP may already have an ARM server out, but Dell feels it was released too soon and that “the software stack just isn't mature enough.”

No clue yet on how long it will take for some palpable results to show up.
