Dell introduced two new business-intended laptops from the Latitude series of mobile computing systems that are designed with advanced security features ranging from full hardware encryption of the present data to remote administration software applications.

The two new Dell laptops are named D630 and D830 and they come with Seagate hard disk drives from the Momentus family that are offering full hardware encryption options and data storage capacities up to and including 160GB. On the software side, the two new Dell machines are shipping with Wave Systems' Embassy Trust Suite, allowing remote administration capabilities under the most secure conditions.

On the hardware side, the two machines are based on the Intel mobile computing platform and so they come with Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 central processing units that are running at a standard clock frequency of 1.8GHz while having 2MB of L2 cache memory and a frontside bus speed of 800MHz. Featuring 15.4 widescreen displays, the D830 and D630 laptops are coming with integrated graphics solutions built by Intel and based on the Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 core which is directly built in the mainboard's chipset. The higher end model, the D830, also has the option of upgrading to a discrete graphics solution powered by Nvidia's professional Quadro NVS 140M GPU, while users choosing the lower end D630 will have to make do with the Nvidia Quadro NVS 135M.

As a standard, both machines come with DDR2 random access memory ranging from 512MB to 1GB, but users demanding more performance can upgrade their configurations and go as high as 4GB. The Ddr2 memory installed on these two machines runs at a clock speed of 667MHz. Another security feature apart from the full hardware encryption of the hard disk drive is the presence of the fingerprint reader, which is built inside the touchpad.

Like most modern day laptops, the Dell D830 and D630 come with either Microsoft Windows XP or Vista preinstalled and they feature a starting price of $849.
