After a period when nothing seemed to work right for Dell, now it looks like, on at least one market segment, Dell regained its footing and started again on the right path. On the end consumer market, Dell faces some pretty serious problems as its top of the line mobile computing systems are having problems with their... paint, which led to a lot of angry customers that found themselves waiting for endlessly delayed shipments.

On
the other hand, on the server market things are looking better as Dell officially announced that it has gained the first place in customer satisfaction for standards-based servers in the Technology Business Research (TBR for short) which took place during the second quarter of the year. "Dell is focused on delivering the best customer experience, bar none," said Brad Anderson, senior vice president, Dell Product Group in a press release and he was cited by the news site serverbulletin.com. "Our commitment to simplify information technology - from our ninth-generation PowerEdge(TM) servers to our forthcoming blade, virtualization, systems management and other solutions - will continue to deliver an outstanding experience for our customers."

According to the Technology Business Research study, Dell's overall score improved by 1.1 percent while the overall rating associated with its direct competitors on the server market, HP and IBM, declined by 1.5 and 0.8 percent, respectively. TBR reported that Dell was the only company to show an increase in all major customer satisfaction areas including server management, phone support, delivery time, value and ease of doing business. "Dell has benefited by strengthening its marketing arm, delivery time, overall value and support, and ease of doing business," said Julie Perron, Manager of Primary Research, Technology Business Research. "This is clearly an indicator of ongoing investments in product design, delivery and customer experience for the past 18 months that accelerated during the past two reporting periods." It is said that a big contribution to the current high customer satisfaction rating is derived from the Dell's PowerEdge family of servers that are designed in such a way as to let customers simplify operations, optimize solutions, and maximize data output value. Dell's PowerEdge and PowerEdge Smart servers are delivering the performance customers expect while keeping ownership costs at bay as they help reduce energy consumption and data center complexity.
