As most of you remember, one of the main reasons for NVIDIA's low financial results for last quarter was the reported issue it had with some of its graphics chips designed for notebooks. The issue has been highly mediated and, up to this moment, a number of Dell, HP and even Apple MacBook Pro users have reported the existence of defective NVIDIA GPUs. Fortunately, Dell's users will benefit from an extensive warranty program that is mainly focused on solving the problem.

According to a blog post on Dell's "Direct2Dell" blog page, the Round Rock company will offer "limited warranty enhancement" to all affected customers worldwide. Despite the fact that, for the time being, details about the initiative are scarce, one thing's for certain: some of Dell's users will have their warranties extended by 12 months, in order to compensate for NVIDIA's faulty mobile GPUs. More specifically, all users who acquired one of the 15 NVIDIA-equipped notebooks listed in the blog post are in a position to benefit from this 1-year "limited warranty enhancement."

This isn't the first time that Dell is offering a support plan for affected users, as just a couple of weeks ago, the company released a series of BIOS updates to keep the matter as much under control as possible. Unfortunately, it now becomes obvious that the BIOS updates were not able to deal with the issue, which is why the systems vendor had to resort to an enhanced support plan.

As mentioned above, full details regarding the program are not yet available but, according to Dell's blog post, further info will be made public over the next few weeks. Dell's users should breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing the news, as it looks like their favorite notebook vendor is doing everything it can to ensure that its users are properly being taken care of.

Considering the problems NVIDIA's faulty chips have caused so far, it's highly probable that Dell takes its time when deciding whether to go with NVIDIA's chips for its upcoming notebooks or not.
