Computer maker Dell is gearing up for the launch of a new tablet PC on the market in China, the Streak 10 Pro slate, which should run under Google's Android operating system. The new device was already rumored a few times before, and it seems that it is as good as official now, since a post on the company's website was dedicated entirely to it.

Moreover, the said post confirms that the device would be powered by Google's Android operating system, as well as the fact that it would land in China in summer.

“I wanted to spend a few minutes talking about the 10-inch Android-based tablet. We will launch the Streak 10 Pro in China later this summer. We will evaluate other regions and segments in the second half of 2011,” Amit Midha, President-China and South Asia, notes on the said blog post.

While specific info on the device were not unveiled, beside the fact that the new device would arrive on shelves with a large touchscreen display, it should not be too long before all of the necessary info is being offered to users.

One thing that the said blog post did do was to explain why the company chose to launch the device in China.

Apparently, the company is seeing increasing adoption on the Chinese market, where they are number 2 on the computer market, with their mobility products representing an important aspect of the business.

Moreover, Dell is committed to provide users with access to more content on their devices, including services and applications.

“Offering an Android 10” tablet in these markets at a later date allows developers more time to create robust apps, particularly for mobile professionals. It also allows more time for companies developing services and solutions to optimize their product for Android,” the blog post notes.

Unfortunately, no specific info on whether the new device will arrive in other markets around the world emerged for the time being, nor on the price tag the slate might feature when made available.
