Round Rock, Texas-based Dell has just announced an update to its successful lineup of Inspiron desktop computers, thus enabling consumers to easily customize their systems with a choice of different colors and different performance configurations. In addition, thanks to an overall slim and mini-tower form factor, the new Inspiron systems from Dell can easily fit any room or desktop, allowing for a higher number of end-users to enjoy the benefits brought by Dell's new desktop rigs. According to the PC vendor, the new systems will be available worldwide for a price tag that starts at just US$299, easily putting them in the nettop category.

“Customers are given complete control in choosing processors, form factors and colors to build an Inspiron desktop that’s high in function and style. There’s versatility to customize a system that fits into everyone’s lifestyle and budget,” said John Terwilliger, director, consumer desktop product marketing at Dell.

Some of the new features that have been enabled by Dell's new systems include a choice for one of Intel's Celeron, Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors or AMD's Sempron, Athlon X2 and Phenom X4 processors, allowing users to choose the level of performance and price tag of their desired desktop PC. In addition, the new Inspiron systems from Dell can be configured with either an Intel or an ATI integrated graphics solution, available on select systems.

For a boost in performance, these options can be completed with a discrete graphics card. Aside from that, the new Dell Inspiron desktop lineup can provide support for up to 8GB of memory, 750GB (for slim tower) or 1TB of storage (mini-tower), optional 19-in-1 media card reader, HDMI connectivity, up to 6 USB 2.0 ports and dual optical drive options, including a Blu-ray drive.

As far as pricing and availability are concerned, Dell announced that its new rigs would be available for purchase through Dell.com or select retailers in China. Customers in the US will be able to purchase these new rigs later this spring for a price tag that starts at just US$299.
