Immediately after having unveiled the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series Ubuntu Edition laptop, the renowned hardware manufacturer has also published details about their smaller 14" Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series laptop powered by Ubuntu Linux.

Having a smaller screen than the Inspiron 15 3000 Series, the new Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series laptop is, of course, cheaper, more portable, and a bit lightweight, which means that it might just be the preferred choice over the bigger 15" brother for many Linux and Ubuntu enthusiasts who want to purchase a mobile office.

Powered by the same Intel Celeron Dual Core N2840 processor running at 2.58 GHz with 1M cache, Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series Ubuntu Edition laptop comes with the Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system that is supported by Canonical with software updates and security patches for five years, as compared to regular Ubuntu releases, until 2019.

Taking a closer look at the hardware specifications of the new Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series Ubuntu Edition laptop and comparing them with those of the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series laptop, we can notice that it comes with 2GB single-channel DDR3L RAM running at 1600MHz instead of 4GB RAM, as well as the same 500GB 5400 rpm hard disk drive and integrated Intel HD graphics.

Additionally, the laptop includes integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 communication technologies running at 2.4 GHz, and also the same integrated 40 WHr, 4-cell battery that is also present in the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series Ubuntu Edition laptop. The main difference is, of course, the 14.0-inch HD TrueLife LED-Backlit display that offers a 1366 x 768 resolution.
