Together with the two Inspiron 13z and 14z consumer notebooks announced earlier today, Dell has also released a new thin and light Vostro laptop, dubbed the V131, which is targeted towards business users who ofter found themselves on the road.

This means that outside of the usual connectivity features such as Bluetooth and wireless 802.11 b/g/n LAN, Dell's notebook can also be configured to feature 3G or 4G mobile broadband (either WiMAX or LTE).

This is one of the few choices that Dell lets its customers make when purchasing the Vostro V131, and the only processor option for the 0.83-inch notebook is an Intel ultra-low voltage Celeron 847 processor.

This is one of the slowest CPUs manufactured by Intel on the Sandy Bridge architecture and it includes two computing cores clocked at just 1.1GHz, which are paired with an HD 2000 graphics core.

In the Vostro V131, the Celeron chip is seconded by 2GB of system memory setup in a single channel configuration, while storage is provided by a 320GB hard drive with a spindle speed of 7200RPM.

The small chassis doesn't leave any room for an optical drive, but Dell is offering its customers an external 8x DVD burner as an option.

Taking a look at the rest of the specifications list we find all the usual features, such as an 8-in-1 card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, a HD webcam and, and a pair of stereo speakers, but also more advanced options like a pair of USB 3.0 ports, an USB 2.0/eSATA combo connector or HDMI and VGA video outputs.

The 13.3-inch LED backlit screen used by Dell sports a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels, and is accompanied by a chiclet keyboard with optional illumination.

Battery life can go up to 9.5 hours, depending on the battery pack chosen, while the whole notebook can weight as little as 1.64kg. Pricing for the Vostro V131 laptop starts at a rather low $499.
