Though it will take a while, Dell's Alienware collection of gaming-oriented machines should welcome some new members in the next few months, and it looks like one of them has been partially detailed.

One would think that PC makers would keep silent about their upcoming products, in order to build hype, but the opposite can work as well.

In fact, for computers already expected to be high-end and aesthetically pleasing, one might say it is more convenient to confirm performance expectations as a means to make prospective buyers hold off on acquiring a new system until the one in question comes out.

Whether by this reasoning or not, Dell figured it may as well offer some data on the M14x, an Alienware series gaming laptop set to debut sometime during the second quarter of the ongoing year (2011).

For those that don't know, the Alienware is a line of notebooks that strive to merge both high performance and style in one.

That said, the M14x, as its name implies, has a screen size of 14 inches, the display featuring either an HD (1,366 x 768 pixels) or Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).

At its heart lies a second generation Intel Core series CPU, with options ranging from the i3-2310M all the way up to a i7-2820QM.

Whichever chip is selected is backed up up to 4 GB of RAM (random access memory), while a discrete GPU will handle what the built-in Intel GMA HD can't, although no info exists on it yet.

Other features include a HDD of 750 GB tops (or SSD of up to 256 GB) an optional SiBeam WirelessHD card and LTE or WiMAX connectivity.

All the above are packed inside red or black frames and run on the power provided by an 8-cell battery. Pricing, unfortunately, hasn't been disclosed.
