Round Rock, Texas-based Dell has recently updated its product page with the introduction of a new portable computer system, part of the company's Latitude family of professional laptops. The new system looks to combine some of the design elements made available in the Adamo family of portable PCs with the different features that are available with all the outfit's Latitude series. In addition, the laptop is being touted as the “world's thinnest 13-inch commercial client laptop,” according to the PC vendor.

In terms of design, the Latitude 13 appears to share the chassis and external design of the recently-released Vostro 13, which the outfit announced back in December last year. However, when you get right down to it, the Latitude 13 offers a different set of services, according to the world's third largest PC vendor. These have been made available alongside the new Latitude branding, which is aimed at business professionals and consumers with IT departments.

That said, the Latitude 13 will provide users with an ultrathin laptop that can take advantage of the built-in TPM circuitry or the virtualization-ready configuration. In addition, the ultraportable system has been fitted with thin things like Bluetooth, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and WWAN wireless options, while some users can also opt-in for an external Blu-ray drive.

In addition to the new Latitude 13, Dell also made some hardware adjustments to its mobile workstation, the Precision M6500. These include new dual-core processors, providing consumers with a more affordable configuration for this mobile workstation. There's also an RGB display option with 100 percent color gamut, a 3.2MP webcam, a 64GB SSD MiniCard, USB 3.0 ports and support for Gobi 2.0.

According to available details, both the new Latitude 14 laptop and the updated Precision M6500 mobile workstation will be made available to consumers “in the coming weeks.” Unfortunately pricing details have not yet been revealed.
