Though leaks may be talking about its upcoming high-end laptops, Dell has something more official in mind for those that have good enough financial backing to buy its new monitor, the UltraSharp U3011 30-incher with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

The consumer PC market is filled with many types of displays, of various sizes and quality, each aimed at a specific segment of the consumer base.

This once, Dell has aimed for the arguably absolute highest-end market, with its monitor that is larger, sharper and more expensive than most monitors already on sale.

Normally, even higher-end displays seem content with settling for a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, since this is the one required for Full HD media playback.

Dell, however, decided to provide the market with a solution that can actually take advantage of video boards' ability to push resolution well past that limit.

As such, it made use of an IPS panel of 30 inches whose native resolution is of no less than 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

The rest of the specifications, as one would expect, are quite on par with this resolution, from the brightness and contrast ratio to the design and input options.

To be more specific, the product has a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, though the DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) is of a full 1,000,000:1.

What's more, the UltraSharp U3011 has a brightness of 370 cd/m2, higher than that of most competing displays.

Other specifications include D-Sub, two DVI and a pair of HDMI connectors, along with a 7-in-1 card reader and four USB 2.0 ports, plus a stand with tilt, swivel and height adjustment.

Those interested in acquiring the product need only visit this page, provided that they have the $1,499 necessary to make the purchase. The warranty plan offered is of three years.
