Dell's UltraSharp 2009W: Wide LCD Display With a Twist

- It can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally

By: Bogdan Botezatu, Hardware Editor

Dell has just pulled the veil off yet another interesting LCD display model that comes with dynamic contrast ratio control. The UltraSharp 2009W is a 20-inch LCD monitor is a fancy widescreen display addressed
to graphics and video professionals, that is alleged to deliver deeper black tones and crisp and smooth image quality.

The 20-inch WSXGA LCD panel can support a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels, that delivers more than 13 percent more effective desktop space and up to 36 percent more pixel content than any previous 19-inch monitors created by Dell. The 2000:1 dynamic contrast ratio offers a sharp visual experience with smoother color tones when working with pictures and video, while delivering crisp images for text-based content.

The monitor comes with CCFL-based backlight, that translates into 102 percent color gamut with Dell's TrueColor technology. Graphics professionals will be able to enjoy a wider color spectrum with life-like images, thanks to the enhanced red, blue and green color tones.

Dell's newest display comes with 5-millisecond response times to prevent ghosting and blurring, even when rendering fast-switching images, which makes it excellent for delivering sports transmissions or dynamic broadcasts.

The UltraSharp 2009W monitor can also render high-definition multimedia content, at a native resolution of 1680 x 1050. The DVI and HDCP connectors allows the user to connect it to high-definition sources, such as external HD-DVD / Blu-Ray players or PlayStation3 gaming consoles.

However, Dell's 2009W model is more than performance. The display is extremely flexible, thanks to the simple height, swivel, tilt and pivot adjustments for comfortable placement and viewing experience. When placed on the desktop, the monitor offers quick access to four additional USB 2.0 ports for pen-drives, MP3 players or other USB-based gadgets.

The monitor is available immediately for an estimative retail price of $289.
