Despite several rumors and speculations making the rounds, as well as the high hopes of netbook fans, Dell hasn't yet officially unveiled its Atom-powered, 8.9-inch Eee PC competitor. The company was reported to release the netbook earlier this week at one of its events but, instead, it has come out with the Latitude E4200, the lightest commercial notebook in the company's history, and a number of other enterprise-oriented notebooks. Fortunately, this hasn't stopped rumors from spreading, especially given that the Mini Inspiron or Dell E, just got a new name, Dell Inspiron 910.

Before you get your hopes high all over again, you should know that this is also an unconfirmed reported, as posted earlier this week on a Brazilian website. Bia Kunze from Odontopalm reports that Dell's upcoming netbook will officially be branded as Inspiron 910, and not as Mini Inspiron or Dell E as it was initially assumed. Furthermore, the same article reveals that we'll allegedly also have some new specs as well to go with the brand new name.

The netbook will be powered by the same Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor that is currently featured on almost every netbook on the market. It will be equipped with a maximum of 1GB of RAM and up to 12GB of storage space on a solid state drive. Other options will include 512MB of memory, and 4GB and 8GB SSDs. The 8.9-inch TrueLife LCD display will be capable of outputting a maximum resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels. As it will be build on Intel's 945GSE chipset, it will feature the graphics power of Intel's 950 graphics chip, with 8MB of video memory.

The netbook will boast a 4-cell battery, while its average weight is going to be around 1.07kg. It will provide a 0.3MP or 1.3MP web camera, and will be made available with either Windows XP Sp2 or Ubuntu 8.04 OS.

One of the most interesting features of the upcoming product is that it will be equipped with a 3G internal modem. This will not be a standard feature for all devices, but only for those that will be sold in the US.

As far as availability is concerned, we could be looking at an August release, on the 22 to be more specific, according the above-mentioned website.
