Dell just announced it has launched its ninth-generation (9G) PowerEdge servers and storage series developed to reduce power consumption and add new software applications and storage capacity enhancements.

"Dell is focused on delivering exceptional value, performance and investment protection for customers. Our 9G portfolio represents our most robust and advanced server and storage offerings available today. It also illustrates our commitment to industry standards, driving commonality and innovation with product design, as well as technology leadership," said Damian Crotty, Director for Enterprise and Advance System Groups at Dell Asia Pacific, Japan.

As the latest Dell servers will be powered by Intel Xeon 5100 series processors, delivering up to 152 percent performance increase over the previous generation 2U Dell PowerEdge server, the Dell PowerEdge 1950, 2900 and 2950 servers, but also the advanced Dell PowerEdge 1955 promise enhanced performances. Moreover, the new server series offers a 25% decrease in power consumption and an increase in performance per watt of electricity of up to 169 percent.

"No other company can exceed our ability to combine customer feedback with industry-standard technology to deliver robust, complete enterprise offerings. Today's announcement is the first of a series of steps Dell is taking to reduce complexity and simplify operations for our customers," Crotty added.

But Dell didn't settle for less and released what is said to be the industry's first fully integrated deployment and change management solution with Dell OpenManage 5.0.
