A Delaware man proved he had a great sense of humor even after he died. Walter George Bruhl, Jr., of Newark, Delaware passed away on Sunday at the age of 80, but he will always be remembered by his family for his good humor and kindness.

USA Today informs that after Walter's death, his family found out he had written his own obituary. Surprised by the discovery, his grandson Sam posted it online on Monday, and it has been viewed and appreciated by thousands of people.

“Typical of my PopPop: he cut out the middleman and wrote his own ... obituary. He's the only man I've ever known to be able to add his own humor like this,” Sam wrote on his Facebook page.

The self-penned obituary has since gone viral, drawing attention worldwide due to the writer's funny and inspirational style. The content of the obit shows that the man wanted to be remembered for his sense of humor, but also for his accomplishments in life.

Walter wrote down some important details of his life, outlining his education, career and family life.

He also requested that he be cremated after his death since his wife refused “to have him standing in the corner of the room with a glass of Jack Daniels in his hand so that he would appear natural to visitors.”

Bruhl finished his own obituary asking everyone who knew him to raise their glasses and drink in his memory.

“Instead of flowers, Walt would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in his name,” the man wrote.
