As part of her eccentric Monster Ball tour, Lady Gaga was supposed to perform the other night at Purdue University for a sold-out crowd. However, after the opening acts were done with their performance, it was announced that the singer would not make it, having collapsed only shortly before due to exhaustion and dehydration,
Yahoo! Music News says.
It’s not really a secret that the Monster Ball tour is costing Lady Gaga a lot of effort and
presumably money too. Each (sold out) date is a frenzy of colors, music, dancing and high fashion, with the pop star reportedly investing in it everything she has, from most of her time to her own money. All this performing and keeping up with the tour dates seem to have taken a toll on the singer, who will now need a short period of time to make up for it.
“Lady Gaga has cancelled a show in America after collapsing with exhaustion and dehydration. The singer was due to perform at Purdue University on Thursday evening, as part of her Monster Ball tour. However, the gig was pulled just minutes before stage time, when paramedics were called backstage to treat her,” Yahoo! writes. Other reports in the media say that fans gathered at the venue did not even know Gaga wouldn’t be showing up until a couple of minutes before the scheduled time for her performance to begin.
“Due to exhaustion and dehydration, Lady Gaga collapsed and passed out before her show tonight in West Lafayette, Indiana. Her physician has advised her to take a few days off to rest,” a spokesman for the singer says of the cancelation. Gaga herself took to Twitter to apologize to her fans and ask for understanding. “I hope you can forgive me. I love my little monsters more than anything, you are everything to me,” she said. Also there, she explained that she felt “dizzy” and had “trouble breathing” right before starting her performance.
The canceled show has already been rescheduled, it is being said, for January 26 at the Elliott Hall of Music. Fans will next see Gaga on Saturday, at New Jersey’s Borgata Casino. For more on her condition, keep an eye on this space.
