Defense Grid: The Awakening You Monster DLC Adds Portal-themed Levels

Hidden Path Entertainment has just deployed a brand new downloadable content pack for its quite popular Defense Grid: The Awakening tower defense title, called You Monster, which brings 8 new maps based on Valve’s popular Portal series.

Defense Grid: The Awakening is probably one of the most polished tower defense games out there, impressing lots of gamers with its wide variety of maps and challenges, which are available both on the PC, through Steam, and on the Xbox 360, via the Xbox Live Arcade.

Now, after quite a few downloadable map packs, the game is set to receive its first story-based expansion, in the form of the You Monster DLC, which takes the player and his AI companion into the laboratories of Aperture Science, where GLaDOS, the antagonist from Valve’s Portal series, plans to run some tests on them.

“In this first full-story expansion to the award-winning Defense Grid, GLaDOS, the menacing AI from Valve’s awesome Portal franchise, guest stars and shakes up the Defense Grid world. Players will battle not only alien hordes, but the deviousness of GLaDOS as she tests the player’s skills and changes all of the rules that you have come to know. Can you protect the cores in spite of her intrusive testing?”

Included in the new DLC, which is now available both on Steam and on the Xbox Live Marketplace, players will have to master 8 new maps, some already seen in the Potato Sack initiative from earlier this year, while engaging in 35 challenge missions on all these levels.

There are 7 new achievements that can be earned and Hidden Patch estimates that it will take regular players around 15 hours to complete everything in this DLC.
