At this time, the security of our computer is a main concern for security companies from all around the world because all the users are now looking for a powerful solution to protect their system. Although authorities from all around the world are trying to arrest and to reduce the number of hack attacks, spamming or other malicious attempts, it seems like the percentage of dangerous attacks is continuously growing up. Russia is the best example for the hacker activity because many security advisories revealed this country as the territory with the most security threats, every user being able to buy any program for at least 3 euros. The Russian authorities released tougher laws and punishments but it seems like the number of hack attacks remains unchanged.

A few days ago, Viruslist reported that Singapore proposed new laws to combat hackers and spammers because more and more attacks are conducted by the residents of the country. It's obvious that hackers must be stopped but we can't wait for the security companies to develop new solutions. So, what can we do?

Well, many users consider that we must install an antivirus solution and a firewall. Some think these two software solutions are enough to protect our computer, but a simple vulnerability discovered into one of the installed programs can allow an attacker to break into our computer. I agree that a simple firewall is really useful because it can help the user monitor the Internet and network traffic, as well as control the applications that require Internet access.

Although firewalls are useful, the best protection against unwanted access is represented by a complex password required for every action made into the computer. The password must contain both numbers and letters because there are a lot of hack programs able to check a dictionary for common words. Some time ago, a security research revealed that the most used passwords for protecting the computer are root, password, default, administrator, username or changeme.
