Def Jam Vendetta is a videogame developed by Aki USA Inc. and published by Electronic Arts. It was created for the PlayStation 2 gaming console from Sony and for the GameCube, and launched in April 2003. The game is classed as an action title played from a third person perspective, and features a lot of wrestling matches.
Def Jam Vendetta, which is part of the Def Jam franchise, made a name in the gaming industry because it managed to mix wrestling mechanics with interesting characters. The title was not set to be a simulation of wrestling matches, focusing on the arcade element, outrageous moves, and appealing graphical elements.
The fighters featured in the game are very interesting, with all the artists who worked for the Def Jam Recordings label making an appearance. While playing, you can fight with: DMX, Ludacris, Method Man, N.O.R.E., Redman, Scarface, WC, Ghostface Killah and others. There are some 40 playable characters in the game, and they can perform around 1,500 moves. The main idea is to acquire the money and the power needed to get respect in the underground wrestling business. The game has a cinematic story mode and an arcade fighting mode.
Def Jam Vendetta got pretty favorable reviews from the gaming press but until now the franchise has received no new entries.
GAMEPLAY HINTS
Defeating Pockets, House, and Snowman
Keep working on Pockets. When in danger, get Blazin' on him and it will be a K.O.
When you are fighting them, only go after Pockets as he is the smallest person there.
When fighting them, select one person -- it does not matter who that is. Then, stay out of the ring. Next, do your strongest move on the person you selected and try to submit him. Do not worry about the other two. They will stop you, but sometimes they will not. You can also do the move where you make them run (Irish Whip). Do that so he is away from the other two. Then, chase him and while you are running towards him, do your Square move when you get close enough. It should knock him down. Then, do your submit move. Keep doing that and you should submit him and win.
Blazin moves
Every character has two Blazin moves. To perform their second Blazin move, move to the back side of your opponent, grapple, and move the Right analog-stick. Sometimes, this is more effective than their regular Blazin. For example, DMX's Blazin from behind the opponent is where he breaks their arms and snaps their neck.
To do any of the characters' special moves while you are in Blazin mode, grapple your opponent and move Right Analog-stickUp or Right Analog-stickDown. They all have two finishing moves (grappled from the front or grappled from the back).
