Capcom has shared a few more details about its upcoming Deep Down free-to-play online role-playing game that will appear exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in the future, confirming that its microtransactions will cover things like new items and in-game content.

One of the most intriguing upcoming PS4 games is Capcom's Deep Down, which was initially presented as a regular medieval fantasy RPG but actually turned out to be a sci-fi game that lets players go back into the past and explore dungeons, fight monsters, or gain loot.

The game will be a free-to-play online experience, which is among the first of such titles from publisher Capcom.

In a new interview for investors, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has revealed, via DualShockers, that Deep Down will blend online mechanics with a system designed for home consoles.

"One thing we’re doing is grappling with the challenges posed by next-gen hardware platforms. An example of this is the game Deep Down, which we are developing for the PlayStation 4. While it’s a home console game, the model is basically the same as that for online games."

Ono has emphasized that Capcom will make sure that the experience doesn't fall into various problems of the genre.

"When we develop an online game, we aim to create a game that allows people already playing it to continue enjoying it. At the same time, we try to avoid boosting the number of players just for the sake of getting new people to play. The game Deep Down is provided free of charge, but players are required to pay for additional items and other game content. To ensure people playing the game don’t lose interest, we will keep working to deliver stable long-term services."

As of yet, however, Capcom hasn't shared any more details about Deep Down's potential release on the PS4, so it's unclear when it will go online for the Sony console.
