By increasing the number of small LDL particles

After the study which proved that women who drank coffee were not prone to developing temporary or chronic blood pressure, now the researchers are releasing another one which will surely lead to the increase of the number of persons who like veritable coffee.

I used the word 'veritable' because the latest study in the field of the cardiac problems shows that decaffeinated coffee enthusiasts expose themselves to higher levels of cholesterol.

Researchers used 187 subjects divided in three groups. One group drank up to six cups of regular coffee, another drank the same quantity of decaffeinated coffee, while the third didn't drink any.

Researchers measured the level of caffeine in the blood of the participants, as well as levels of the key heart-health indicators before and after the three-month study.

They reported for the first time that after three months of coffee drinking, the decaffeinated group experienced a rise in fatty acids, which is the fuel in the blood that can drive the production of low-density lipoprotein LDL.

There are several types of lipoproteins, each of them influencing the process of atherosclerosis and ischemic cardiopathy.

Cholesterol is minimally soluble in water; it cannot dissolve and travel in the water-based bloodstream. Instead, it is transported in the bloodstream by lipoproteins; protein "molecular-suitcases" which are water soluble and carry cholesterol and fats internally.

Large numbers of small LDL particles are strongly associated with promoting atheromatous disease within the arteries.
