The Debian Project proudly announced the dates, the schedule and venue for the annual meeting of all Debian developers, DebConf12.

The Debian Conference 2012 event will take place between July 8th and July 14th 2012, in Managua, Nicaragua, making it the first DebConf to be held in Central America.

The yearly event allows existing and new Debian developers and collaborators to share knowledge, build tighter community bonds, assemble and make collaborative contributions to the Debian operating system.

Not to mention that DebCamp (yearly developer work sessions) will also take place in the same month as DebConf12. Here's the complete calendar of the events:

· July 1st - 7th, 2012: DebCamp, the yearly developer work sessions; · July 7th, 2012: Debian Day; · July 8th - 14th, 2012: DebConf12; · July 15th, 2012: Departure/cleanup day.

"The members of the Debian community in Nicaragua, working together with their fellow communities in Central America, are very excited to be hosting this event, and are happy to welcome our colleagues from around the world to join us in Managua at this very important and productive conference."

"This conference will boost the local Debian and Free Software communities and help to bring awareness for the Debian Project, with new contributors and enthusiasts from our country and the surrounding region joining the Debian community and helping Debian to build the best operating system." - said Leandro Gómez, leader of the local team for DebConf12.

Debian Conference 2012 will be followed by Debian Day, a day when the doors of the event are opened to the general public.

The costs of the conference will be supported by corporate sponsors. Registration and call for papers will open in early 2012.
