14 DAY TRIAL // The Debian project has just released the Live CD version of the recently launched Debian 7.4 in several separate images with various flavors.
Debian 7.4 was just a maintenance update, just like all the previous releases in this branch, but until now users only had access to the installation version. This makes it harder for people to test an OS because they need a separate system or Virtual Box, for example.
Each new version goes through the same motion, so the Live version of Debian usually arrives a month after the official release. It's unsure why this happens, but users can now safely boot and test the latest stable Debian, 7.4.
If you didn't know already, the stable branch of Debian integrates older components. For example, it uses GNOME 3.4.2, KDE 4.8.4, and Xfce 4.8. As you can clearly see, these are rather old components, but that is why it's called stable. The testing “Jessie” branch has way newer packages, if that is what interests you.
