What’s better than going on a diet to lose weight in order to look fab in a swimsuit this summer at the beach? If you ask Debenhams, that’s buying a swimsuit that only creates the impression you’ve been dieting by hiding all those unsightly bumps: the “slimsuit.”

After polling women about their problem areas and which are the parts of their body they’re most insecure about at the beach, Debenhams realized that the tummy ranked highest, says the Daily Mail.

Thus, it came up with an idea for a one-piece swimsuit that shapes the tummy and boosts the cleavage.

Padding ensures all the bumps on the tummy are flattened, while the breasts are offered extra support.

“They came up with a suit that has low-rise legs which smoothen out bumps, and a molded bust works like a padded bra,” the Mail says.

“The lining is made from a specially-designed super-strength material that cinches at the waist and flattens the tummy,” writes the same publication.

No word yet on whether all this padding is uncomfortable or not. One may think the suit can get stuffy, but that’s probably not the case since the makers promise the focus when making it was on helping women cheat “effortlessly.”

“The challenge was to use data to create a suit that accentuates the good bits, and smoothes the lumpy bits without making women feel like they’re wrapped in cling-film,” Sasha Nagalingham of Debenhams tells the Mail.

However, the “slimsuit” is not only practical: it also looks good. As with every other swimwear item put out every season, this too places a lot of emphasis on being spot on trend.

“But it’s not all about functionality – there’s no point cheating if it doesn’t look effortless. We have spent as much time on the look of the suit as we have on the construction of it,” Nagalingham says.

The Daily Mail doesn’t say whether the “diet in a swimsuit” bathing suit is already available, but it does mention it costs £45 to buy. Keep an eye on this space for more details.
