How would you react if someone told you that your phone could carry a dangerous virus? I am sure some of us would panic. We're not talking about any Hollywood horror movie,
but about real facts that happen in our times. Times when some people buy PDAs and watch movies on their mobile phones.

Some Pakistan mobile phones owners have informed the local authorities about the existence of a killer mobile virus that could attack them when using the handset.

The funny thing is that the mobile owners were definitely not talking about a software virus, but about one that can be transmitted from one mobile user to another via long distant airwaves. Technically speaking, it sounds completely ridiculous, but this has created a massive chaos in Pakistan.

Many people claimed that they have received messages on their mobile devices that warned them about a possible deadly virus infection on their phones.

The Telecom company representatives stated that the local centers were flooded with messages from the subscribers that demanded explanations regarding the crisis.

The rumor was so powerful that some mosques in Karachi, which is the biggest city in Pakistan, announced that 20 people were already killed by an unknown virus. That was completely false information that even amplified the crisis. The mobile owners were even more scared of their own handsets.

Officially, there are more than 52 million mobile owners in Pakistan, so you can easily imagine the magnitude of such mass panic attack.

Telecom tried to calm down people by explaining to them that the rumors were senseless in technological terms. But the messages kept flooding the cell phone lines.
