Dean McDermott is speaking out to defend himself after a round of very bad press and criticism even from some of his fans following the release of photos of him leaving an adult toys shop while his wife Tori Spelling was in the hospital.

Speaking with E!, the reality star, who can now be seen on Lifetime’s docuseries True Tori season 2, claims that he’s been completely misrepresented in the media, and as such, completely misunderstood.

He also offers some updates on his and Tori’s baby making plans, following last week’s episode in which he came very close to getting a vasectomy at his wife’s request.

Reality show doesn’t serve selfish interests, it’s for the greater good of mankind

You will find 3 videos embedded below, in which Dean tries to defend himself by basically saying that he’s just a guy who made the mistake of cheating on his wife, but who’s trying to make things better again – for himself and for his family. If only for this reason, he should be left alone, he seems to be saying.

However, perhaps the most (potentially) infuriating part of the interview comes when Dean says that he’s not even doing the show for selfish reasons, i.e. to make money to provide for his family. If anything, he underlines, he’s doing it to help others because he’s “baring [his] soul” and coming clean on such painful topics like infidelity, alcoholism, drug addiction, and depression.

So to hear that people are so critical of him and that they say the nastiest things about him online is hurtful. At one point, Dean even says that the negativity hurts him precisely because he’s doing the show to help others, so he mostly definitely deserved an actual reward for it.

Dean is lying to himself and to his fans

If only Dean had watched last week’s episode of True Tori, he’d know that the only reason he and Tori were doing the show was because they were strapped for cash, as it was made clear from footage included on it.

Tori has known nothing all her life than to be in front of a camera and make outrageous amounts of money for it, mostly because of her last name being Spelling. Her father, Aaron Spelling, was one of the most prolific and rich producers in television, but he left her with close to nothing when he passed away.

She makes sure to tell Dean and her two girlfriends featured on the show that she had no other choice than to air her dirty laundry on camera, because otherwise she and her 4 children with Dean (5 including Dean’s son from a previous relationship) would be left on the streets to starve.

We’re exaggerating here a bit, but if you have seen one single episode of the docuseries, you know that this is exactly how Tori acts on camera, as if this were an actual possibility.

No more children for Tori and Dean

Speaking of kids, in the same E! interview, Dean sets the record straight: he didn’t get a vasectomy, so he remains open to the possibility of having another child with his wife, assuming her body can still carry a pregnancy to full term without any health risks either to her or the baby.

They do have financial problems because of their large family, he admits, but he and Tori make “such beautiful babies” together that he would never rule out the possibility of having another one.
