Victims are requested to hand over passwords and financial details

In case you receive an email apparently coming from Australian discount website DealsDirect.com.au, you should take a long look at it before clicking on any links, since it may actually be a fake notification designed by cybercriminals.

Hoax Slayer has come across one variant that offers iPhone 4S phones for only 50 Australian dollars.

“Best Iphone 4S offer ever! Buy the fabulous Iphone 4S for only 50 AU$. Click here to get your Apple Iphone 4S. Do not miss the best offer ever on [link],” the bogus alert reads.

The link doesn’t point to DealsDirect, but to a replica of the site’s login page. Here, victims are requested to provide all sorts of information, including passwords, credit card numbers and other financial details.

The product and the domain on which the malicious website is stored might change. This is why you must be extra cautious when coming across such emails.

Usually, when something looks too good to be true, it usually is.
