Hidetaka Suehiro, aka Swery65, says that the team behind the cult hit Deadly Premonition has not seen any economic windfall from the launch of the game.

The developer tells Polygon that, “So far there’s no economic success from this game. I’m hoping that The Director’s Cut will give me another chance at success, and another chance to create a new game or maybe a sequel.”

Deadly Premonition took six years to create and the title failed to make an impact on launch, but many players quietly promoted the title to their friends and a global fan community was created.

Deadly Premonition will get a Director’s Cut during this year, exclusively on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, with graphical and gameplay enhancements.

Hidetaka Suehiro has already confirmed that he is involved in other, unannounced game projects.
