Researchers say that most of the canned products we bought for Thanksgiving should end up in trash containers, for our health's sake. Experts are now able to explain how the rather tacky latin phrase “Quod me nutrit, me destruit” translated into “What nourishes me, also destroys me” can be applied to the entire food industry.

A recent study reveals that canned food can put our health at great risk, since scientists reveal that such products are likely to contain Bisphenol-A, the dangerous, controversial estrogen-like chemical, according to TheDailyGreen.

Even if canned meals turn out to be cost and time-effective alternatives, when we don't have enough time to cook and a quick visit to the supermarket seems to solve this problem, experts made a list that shows us we often put our health in great danger while relying on these substitutes.

Unfortunately, the list highlights some of our favorite delights, consumed by customers especially during the Thanksgiving meals. Turkey Gravy, Cream of Mushroom soup, evaporated milk, fresh cut sweet corn, cream style, cut green beans and pumpkin are delicious products which food experts encourage us to eat, but not out of cans.

Officials from the Breast Cancer Fund manifested their concern towards the way people are eating. The food industry doesn't come in favor of smart decisions and it is just feeding our consumerism that is making us literally sick, in most of the cases.

The organization highly recommends a diet based upon fresh products and it is trying to take the canned foods out of people's daily meals.

Such a change would translate into a healthier lifestyle and a lower exposure to chemicals that result from the lining of cans, such as BPA. Even if experts didn't manage to highlight a certain connection between canned products and dangerous chemicals, it is wiser to avoid what might be harming our wellbeing.

Breast Cancer Fund shows that BPA is so similar to estrogen that it may trigger various health consequences. Its officials correlate this chemical with many illnesses, so far, due to several lab studies.

At this point in time, stricter regulations would help consumers make better choices meant to safeguard their health. The lack of governmental support for this cause, linked with the food industry's negligence allow the manufacturers to put the lives of buyers at great risk.

Even in the present context, some of the companies decided to label their products in an appropriate manner, so that costumers will know from now on exactly what they are eating and furthermore, what they're exposing themselves to.
