Dead to Rights is a videogame developed and published by Namco Hometeck. It was released for the PlayStation 2 gaming console from Sony, the original Xbox from Microsoft, the GameCube and the PC. It was launched in November 2002. The title can be played from a first or third person perspective, and is classed as an action game with some mystery elements.
The game puts the player in the shoes of Jack Slate, who is a police officer in the fictional Grant City. When he is out on a routine police patrol, Jack is framed by unknown forces for having killed his father, whose body he discovered. Not willing to take the blame, Jack becomes a runaway and tries to prove his being innocent. Along the way, he must fight a lot of enemies and piece together the identities of those who framed him.
The game takes place in a variety of locations, like hotels, office buildings, bars and even a prison, which you will get to see by playing the role of an inmate.
One of the best put together elements of the game is the combat. Jack is a very skilled fighter. He can throw a fire extinguisher at his enemies while shooting it; he can grab someone and protect himself by using their body. He can also perform a wide variety of unarmed moves that make the enemy lose their weapon and then finish them off. There's even an option to slow down time by using the adrenaline building up as you fight.
GAMEPLAY HINTS
Defeating people without guns
To easily defeat people that do not have guns, keep blocking and dodging. If you do not dodge, you will still get hurt. When you are in prison, you will learn how to reverse a grab. This will allow you to avoid getting hurt when they grab you. When you reverse the grab, you will throw their arms in the air. This will leave them open to attack (punch, kick, grab, etc.). However, they can still block.
Chapter 1: All pistol disarms
When you start the level, a man will appear and try to shoot you. Lock on to him and use your dog (Shadow) to kill him. Shadow will bring his gun to you. When you kill him, another man by a crane will start to shoot. Lock on to him and shoot him with the gun you received. When you kill him, some pipes will fall down, making it appear as if you cannot get through. However, you can. Immediately when you enter, a man will come up behind you and say "Drop it!". You will throw down your weapon and turn around. When you turn around, you will not be able to move anymore -- this will make it easier. You will be prompted to press Circle to disarm him. You can either do that, or do it with the Analog-stick. To get all of them, keep doing the level over or try it the old fashioned way.
