Inspired by Hong Kong action movies, classic film noir style, and hardboiled detective novels, Dead to Rights stars action noir hero, Jack Slate, a good cop in a bad city, forced to be a fugitive as he fights for his life and searches for his father's killers. Dead to Rights features more than a dozen game mechanics including diving, rolling, punching, kicking, and lethally disarming enemies in a variety of over-the-top ways. Jack's canine partner (a Husky named Shadow) lives up to the name of a "man's best friend," helping Jack investigate crime scenes, sniffing out bombs, retrieving weapons and attacking enemies. Unique game play scenarios, mini-games and stop motion special effects add to the action. Want to complete the game? We offer you a couple of cheats, hints and a great walkthrough:
Beat Pinnacle When you fight him, keep going toward him, then dive away. Soon he will swing and slump over. Go behind him, and press B or X. You will jump on his back and start to choke him. Keep pressing X or B, and he will lose a lot of health.
All Chapters At the New Game screen, press Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Right, Y, X, X.
Unlock Unlimited Shotgun Mode Go to the Press Start screen, and then go to the New Game screen. Now press and Hold L + R, and press Y, X, Up, Up, Up
Disarm Weapons All weapon classes have five disarm motions ... B, Up and B, Left and B, Right and B, Down and B. The only exception is with the shotgun, which only uses B, or UP and B. Disable the Random Disarm Option before attempting.
Strategy to Beat Boss Dude Here's a strategy to beat that boss dude on the second to last level (I think it’s chapter 14) who shoots fire at you. In the beginning of the battle, run immediately over to where the health pack and body armor is. Duck down behind the two crates where the AK rifle is and stay put. The boss shouldn't come over to you at all throughout the whole battle. (In the beginning, you may have to fight him a bit to keep him away from you. Then he should leave you alone.) As you are crouching behind the crates the whole time, simply keep firing with the AK and come back for more ammo as often as you want (it's unlimited because it keeps appearing every couple seconds). The AK is located just behind where you are crouched. Make sure to destroy those bottles that he drinks because he can gain a whole lot of health back, and it makes it harder in the end to kill him. Even though the AK isn't as strong as the Carbine (located at the other end of the plane, on the left from where you are crouched, near the door), it will keep you from having to run and get more ammo every second and risk dying. It may take a while, but it will get the job done.
Level Walkthroughs
Level 1: Last Call This level is the tutorial level. Just follow the directions of the onscreen hint boxes, and you'll get through alive.
Level 2: Den of Iniquity Complete Hildy's minigame. Defeat the event staff in hand-to-hand combat. Easy, right? When you fight Boris, use the same moves you used on the event staff. P, P, K, K and P, P, P, P, P are very effective combos and will kill most regular enemies with the one combo. Remember to dodge and block; it’ll save your ass. When you kill Boris, several guys with Colt .45s and SPAS 12 shotguns will enter the dance area. This is a good place to save so that you can come back and practice your pistol and shotgun disarms. You will have picked up a
Colt .45 from Boris, and there will be four guys with the same pistol getting off the elevator. Cap all of them, and get their weapons.
If you run low on health or armor, there's armor and large health packs behind the downstairs bar and the upstairs bar. After you kill the guys on the dance floor, two guys will come out of the room to the right of the downstairs bar and start shooting at you. Kill them and Boris' brother Dmitriy will step off the elevator. He's got a powerful automatic shotgun. For you gun nuts out there, it's called a Jackhammer in real life, but not in the game. Dmitriy is easy to kill: One slow-mo dive with a full SPAS-12 is all it takes. Grab his gun and the keycard he drops, and head to the elevator.
When you step off of the elevator, you have two options: Holster your gun and break the MIB's neck or use him as a human shield. Pick one and use it. This guard is armed with a powerful and accurate Desert Eagle (.50 automatic), one of the better weapons in the game. Run down the hall until you hear the guards shout at you. Slow-mo dive backward while firing your gun. Get back to where you killed the first guard, and go into wall mode. Stay in wall mode until you've killed all the hitmen. Repeat the process with the next hallway. If you see a hitman with a laser-sighted revolver, avoid the laser. If the laser does not touch you, then he won't fire.
The next room is a little tricky: It holds two enforcers (body armored) with SPAS-12 shotguns and a hitman with a revolver. Get out your .50 pistols and dive into the room. Dispatch as many of them as you can in the dive, and deal with the survivors as you land. There's a keycard on the body of the hitman, armor on the coffee table, and a big health pack near the door the keycard opens. Enter the room to meet Augie Blatz. A short exchange between Augie and Jack causes Blatz to run and his men to attack. Dive to your right with your .50s or your .45s out and blast Blatz's boys. Two are armed with AKMs (Ak-47s), so be careful. Grab the AKMs and the other guns, and exit via the gray door near the desk. Get out your new AKM and watch your back as hitmen and enforcers come out of both doorways on both sides of the room. All are armed with the standard assortment of AKMs, Revolvers, .45 autos and .50 autos. Use a few as human shields when armor and health are scarce. After disposing of them, go behind the bar and grab the armor. Then push the switch and hurry to the door. Remember to grab any weapons you want before leaving the strip club.
Now you're on the street with your trusty partner, Shadow. Shadow really shines when you're in wall mode and run out of ammo. He is also good for killing the tough, body-armored opponents like enforcers or Security Leaders (later on in the game). Fight your way up the street. There's body armor behind the bench midway up the street and check the oriental-looking phone booths for small health packs. The thugs here are armed with M11 SMGs, .45 automatics, and SPAS-12 shotguns. The new M11 is a piece of crap with a useless silencer. It's good to impress your friends with, but it's inaccurate, weak, and wastes lots of ammo. As a rule, silenced weapons are always weak. When you reach the alley, go into wall mode and slay the thugs. All have body armor and M11 SMGs. Grab the big health pack if you have any damage done to you, and turn the corner. When you enter the hotel, go into wall mode on the wall at the top of the stairs. If you need armor, there's some behind the baggage cart. Enforcers and hitmen will attack you with revolvers and automatic shotguns. When you run out of ammo (and you will), use Shadow to rip some bad guy a new one and bring you his gun. When they're all dead, snatch the keycard from one of them and activate the switch behind the desk. A long cut scene plays showing how you got framed for the murder of Augie Blatz.
Level 3: Iron Point This is my least favorite level, so I'm gonna speed through it. The object is to gather 25 packs of cigarettes and beat a map out of a fat guy named Tattoo. Beat down the thugs in the room you're in, remember the P, P, K, K ; P, P, P, P, P ; P, P, P, P, K combos. They will kill the convicts (the orange ones) with the single combo. The "lifters" (the ones in the white shirts) take a few more hits and a throw or two. Beat a keycard out of one of them, and open the gate. Go to the workshop and whoop up on the convicts.
There are some health packs near the door if you need them. Talk to Wireboy and learn about how to escape. He wants 25 packs for some battery acid. Complete the tasks given to you by other prisoners and yourself. The gym is pretty easy: Beat Stinger to get a pack. After the fight, grab the big med kit near the bench. Complete the two other minigames in the gym and exit. Timmy should come up to you and ask you to beat up Mad Dog. Go to the cell block he tells you to, and beat down the convicts in there. Then Mad Dog will come out, and you get to trash him. Arm wrestle Big Arm Tony for a pack, and Johnson will ask you to get his photo back.
This is really difficult due to the large numbers of lifters and convicts. Use your slow-mo dive to escape groups, and use the health packs scattered throughout the cells wisely. My suggestion is to run toward a pack of convicts and then dive back to the entrance. The idiots will start to walk away, giving you time to run up behind them and break their neck by pressing B. Do this until they're all gone. Then repeat on the second group.
When they're dead, go up the stairs to the top floor, and get Johnson's photo from a cell. A convict named Mac will come at you for taking his stuff. He's really easy to beat; just stick with the combos I told you about and dodge often. When he grabs you to throw you, quickly press B to break the throw and launch yourself into the all-punch combo. It never fails. You'll always get a clean combo into whoever you do this to. Go back outside the cell block, and talk to Johnson. He'll give you your twenty-fifth pack. Go back and talk to wire boy again. Then go to the showers, and talk to Tattoo. Memorize the way to the showers, as you'll need to get there in a hurry soon. Don't worry, if you lose this fight you don't become his bitch. Kick Tattoo's fat ass, but dive away from, dodge, or ignore his lifter buddies. They're invincible.
After you whoop up on Tattoo and take his map, walk around until you hear Sickle, the black-clad prison guard beating your dog, Shadow. A short exchange between Slate and Sickle, then you gotta fight him. Sickle is a pretty tough fighter. Throw him often, and use the tried-and-true throw-break-then-all-punch-combo, along with the other combos. After that, you will see a clip play showing your escape and Sickle's death. Run to the showers, but don't kill any guards. You can beat them up a little, but don't deliver the death blow. Dive away from them if they get too close. Follow the convict down the shower drain. Disarm him with your favorite pistol disarm (mine's "One for the Road") and blast his buddy. The convicts are armed with nothing new. The standard Colt .45 pistol and SPAS-12 shotgun assortment that you're so used to by now. You have no armor to speak of, but plenty of health packs are scattered about the tunnels. When you get to the part where Jack says: "Looks like this ledge is my only way across," go into wall mode and slowly shimmy across the ledge. FAKK 2 Veterans will know this as the "wall hug."
There are guns and health and even a suit of body armor in various alcoves in the tunnels. Make your way to the fenced gate, and kill the convicts there. You're saving the city money, killing all these guys that honest tax payers are supporting with their taxes. The cops should be thanking you, not trying to kill you. Pick the lock on the door quickly as the cops are right behind you.
The game's cutscenes are so cool that fans turn them into music videos:
Cheats
All Guns Up, Down, Left, Left, A, B, A, A.
Easy Mode Go to the Press Start screen then go to the New Game screen. Now press and Hold L + R and press B, Left, Down, Down, Up.
Beat Henessey Start punching before he even reaches you. Do either one of these two combos: Punch, Punch, Punch, Kick or P, P, P, P. If you start hitting before he reaches you, he'll get caught up in your combo each time. If he blocks, he'll attack right after you stop.
Right after your combo stops and he blocks, jump away. He can't hurt you if you are diving away. Throw him once in a while, too. If he blocks your throw, quickly start punching and you'll catch him in another combo. After he opens the doors with the intense fire (halfway thru his energy), head toward the door he opens and wait for him to come. Throw his ass in the fire and watch him burn.
Get Time to Pay Mode Go to the Press Start screen then go to the New Game screen. Now press and Hold L + R and press B, Y, Up, Up, Up, Right.
