Dead Space is one of the most innovative games this fall and marked a new beginning of IP development for its publisher, Electronic Arts. This game is the first to be developed with a comic book volume and a prequel movie in mind, a very risky endeavor considering it was a completely new title with no loyal fan base which would ensure sales.

But the game managed to gain quite a lot of appreciation from fans and critics who, according to average review scores, found the horror survival title very entertaining and innovative in terms of gameplay and realism. The game puts you in the gravity boots of an engineer who tries to exterminate the alien race which has taken over the space ship Ishimura.

The animated movie, entitled Dead Space: Downfall, shows the fights which took place on the Ishimura before the player arrives to help the space ship in the game. It has an extremely entertaining plot but isn't for the faint hearted as a lot of gory scenes are portrayed to the viewer.

Although it was released straight to DVD, Starz Entertainment, the company which handled the production of the animated title, has just announced that it would be showing the world premiere of the movie on TV this Sunday, on its Encore Action channel.

“We are thrilled to have the world television premiere of Dead Space: Downfall on Encore Action,” said Nancy Silverstone, vice president of program acquisitions for Starz Entertainment. “The feature sets a new standard for animated horror that our audience will love. It provides the story thread from the comic books to the newly released game, using the background and sound design from the game and the same artistic spirit of the comic book series.”

It is definitely worth watching in case you have this channel because, if you haven't purchased the game yet, you will surely want to do that.
