The upcoming Dead Space 3 will be significantly bigger than the previous two titles in the series and the development team at Visceral Games plans to create an experience that offers players hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Yara Khoury, who is an associate producer working on the game, has told AusGamers that, “I think Dead Space 3 is a little bit different because we have a little bit more depth in gameplay, and also in the environments. So we have the beta-path, which are additional, and total optional levels to explore, which is great if you want to scavenge for great resources.”

Gamers who take the opportunity and search all the game world will be able to get better parts and then create better weapons which will open up more exploration options.

Visceral Games wants to create a solid feedback loop that will persuade most gamers that sticking to the core narrative path is not always the best idea.

Another serious chunk of playtime for Dead Space 3 is also linked to the cooperative element, which allows gamers to group in order to face tougher foes and more impressive challenges.

Yara Khoury added, “So I would say it’s a deeper game, that has more gameplay depth, and I think our players are going to find a lot of replayability value; more than in Dead Space and in Dead Space 2, actually.”

Dead Space 3 will see main character Isaac crash land on an ice covered world where he once again has to face off against the Necromorph threat while also battling human enemies for the first time in the series.

Dead Space 3 is currently set to arrive on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on February 5 of next year in the United States and February 8 in Europe.
